LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE IN RENO
Reno is a city in the northwest section of the U.S. state of Nevada, about 22 miles from Lake Tahoe, known as “The Biggest Little City in the World.” With a 2020 population of 260,258, it is the 3rd largest city in Nevada and the 85th largest city in the United States. Known for its casino and tourism industry, Reno is the county seat and largest city of Washoe County and sits in a high desert river valley at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. Its downtown area occupies a valley informally known as the Truckee Meadows which have become a new major technology hub in the United States because of large-scale investments from Seattle and Bay Area, companies such as Amazon, Tesla, Panasonic, Microsoft, Apple, and Google. As the population of Washoe County and Nevada grows, the demographics are shifting. The non-Hispanic white population has dropped in every county between 2010 and 2014 except for three counties. In Washoe County, the non-Hispanic white population grew very slightly, with the Latino population growing 5%.English is the most widely spoken language in Nevada, followed by Spanish and Asian and Pacific Island languages. Learning a new language in Reno is a great way to connect to the community and the diversity of the millions of people that tour this city every year.
